The Kid Institute of Technology is dedicated to giving kids in the Portland Metro area access to technology education in a FUN, SAFE, CONFIDENCE BUILDING atmosphere.

The Bits, Bytes & Bots Curriculum now offers Lego® Mindstorm® NXT robotics classes, stop-motion animated movie making, and computer video game creation classes for children ages 6-14, and will eventually be expanding its offerings for high schoolers. Children obtain a variety of technical skills and build competence and confidence while having a GREAT time during after school programs, private workshops, birthday parties, and summer camps.

The Kid Institute of Technology LLC was founded by Rick Lyons to bring the Bits Bytes & Bots program to the Portland metro area. Starting with classes on the east side and expanding west as the company develops.

Rick Lyons has been an engineer working in automated systems for more than eighteen years. Developing systems anywhere from putting cookies into their bags, moving huge rolls of film around in the dark, building wire harness systems for aircraft or developing machines to process silicon wafers for computer chip manufacturing.

In addition to engineering Rick is also a passionate teacher. Aside from training clients on the automation systems he has been developing, Rick is a highly accomplished snowsports instructor, teaching kids and adults for more than twenty-five years.

The Kid Institute of Technology cares about your child's safety first and foremost. We employ the most stringent national background checks before a potential teacher is hired and continue to check on teachers throughout their tenure with us. We hire the best teachers who have experience with children, an aptitude for technology, and who share our philosophy that the best way to learn is through FUN!
